The nature of life is change. In both life and business, it is unavoidable. Therefore, effective managers and leaders should be ready to take on new tasks and adapt to changing circumstances. According to Mullin’s research, having good management skills can help people cope with the adjustment to a new change. (Mullin 2010)

I strongly agree with Mullins’ first statement where he mentioned that some people thrive on new challenges and continuous change while others choose the comfort of the existing environment and resist any change completely. In my opinion, I want to be a strong leader, I'm constantly willing to learn more and expand my knowledge, abilities, and experiences. Similar to individuals, I think corporations require an ongoing change to advance and remain competitive by setting themselves apart from rivals. Mullins' second claim that there is nothing that management can do when there is a reluctance to change is one with which I disagree. I think that any opposition displayed by members of an organization may be overcome by effective leadership and management. Many large businesses, like Microsoft, Shell, and Wal-Mart, have adopted significant reforms and overcame objections. (Everwise 2017).

For example, Apple is a globally diverse firm that aspires to create a product that has nothing to do with its core competencies. Apple produced and designed personal computers for a long period before releasing the iPod music player in 2001, the iPhone in 2007, the iPad in 2010, and the Watch in 2015. All of this was only made possible because Apple's Steve Jobs was willing to adapt. (Yu 2013).

Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, is a prime example of management who resisted change. When Apple introduced the iPhone, he was not prepared to accept the shift and criticized it. Microsoft failed miserably in the smartphone market as a result of its refusal to accept the shift. Even today, Microsoft was unable to gain a sizable market share in the smartphone industry. (Cusumano 2014).

Microsoft's resistance to change leads to success that benefits the business. To achieve change, businesses need to establish an effective model. As a nice example, I provide Lewin's theory of change management (UNFREEZE, CHANGE, REFREEZE).

Unfreeze all processes when you decide that your business needs a change and examine how everything is being done to identify areas for improvement. This will help to weed out prejudice and errors. (Mulholland 2017)

Once the changes have been made, assist staff members in learning how to use the new procedures. Identification and resolution of issues as soon as they occur require effective training and communication to enable a seamless transition.

Once the change is implemented, it must be carefully monitored and improved based on the feedback you need to freeze. This is necessary to prevent the old processes and habits from resurfacing.

Advantages- an excellent model for any organization that needs to alter drastically to succeed and simple and easy to understand.

Limitations- Processes to defrost might be challenging and time-consuming and may need to make modifications to support workers' emotions more. (Mulholland 2017)

A real-world example of resisted to change

Kodak a technological corporation with a strong emphasis on imagination, is an example of a business that resistance to change adversely damaged. The business struggled with innovation, lacked market research, and suffered financially as a result of its refusal to switch from selling film and film processing to digital photography, which led to its filing for bankruptcy in January 2012. (Gershon 2013).

Conclusion- Being interested in technology, I believe that in ten years, the world will be completely different. Consequently, being prepared and executing change at the appropriate moment. Change should not be imposed on consumers or workers; rather, it should be executed in a way that they accept it. Success in business cannot be achieved by change alone, it requires the correct strategy, model, and practices, as well as effective leadership.
